Yamal 402 is a Communications Satellite operated by Gazprom Space Systems and was manufactured by Thales Alenia Space, France and launched on 8 december 2012. The 10kW Communications Payload consists of 46 Ku-Band transponders forming four fixed communications beams: a Russian beam, a Northern, Southern and a European Beam. Yamal 402 also features a steerable beam. It’s use is for TV broadcast as well as communication channels, point-to-point connection and VSAT (iDirect, Newtec, UHP, Comtech) networks for corporate customers.

Details:
46 Ku-band transponders. Due to partial launch failure the satellite was released at lower orbit than expected and the apogee motor fuel was used to boost it to the right orbit. Therefore the expected lifetime is reduced to 11 years.
